MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – WGNS has a tragic update regarding the motorcycle crash that occurred on Thursday night, April 10, in Murfreesboro. Investigators with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist as 24-year-old Blake Raucci, a resident of the Murfreesboro area.
The fatal collision took place around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Rutherford Boulevard and Greenland Drive. Authorities say Raucci, who was operating a 2024 Kawasaki EX5, collided with a 2016 Ford Fusion as it was attempting to make a left turn.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of the Fusion was traveling southbound in the left turn lane of N. Rutherford Boulevard. The driver attempted to turn left on a solid green light, reportedly failing to yield the right of way and striking the motorcycle. Raucci was pronounced dead at the scene by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services. The driver of the car was not injured.
Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers said FACT investigators are still examining evidence to determine whether excessive speed by the motorcyclist may have contributed to the crash. The case remains under active investigation.
In response to this and other recent motorcycle-related crashes, Murfreesboro Police and the Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force have announced a Motorcycle Safety Event. The event will take place on May 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Murfreesboro on NW Broad Street. The goal is to educate both riders and drivers about safe practices to help prevent future tragedies on local roadways.
