RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - For over 20 years, the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been a longstanding tradition and a meaningful gathering place for community leaders across Rutherford County. This year, the breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, May 1st. Each year, Cliff Sharp of Greenhouse Ministries plays a key role in organizing the event...

The breakfast is held annually on the first Thursday in May, coinciding with the National Day of Prayer — a time when individuals of all faiths across the nation are invited to pray for the country, its leaders, and their communities…

National Day of Prayer is a tradition that began in 1952, when President Harry S. Truman signed a joint resolution of Congress officially establishing the day. It was later formalized in 1988, when President Ronald Reagan signed legislation designating the first Thursday of May as the permanent annual date.

This years Prayer Breakfast will be in the MTSU Student Union Ballroom (1768 MTSU Blvd) and thanks to a local business… Tickets are still available at a cost of only $10 per person. Everyone is encouraged to attend and you can still reserve your seat by visiting GreenhouseMin.org (Click Here for a direct link to the ticket sales).

National Day of Prayer: The origins of national calls to prayer in the U.S. stretch back even further than the year the tradition began in 1952. In fact, national prayer can be traced back to the Continental Congress in 1775, which called on the colonies to pray for wisdom and guidance during the early days of the American Revolution.

Since its founding, the National Day of Prayer has served as a reminder of the country's spiritual roots and a moment of unity across diverse religious traditions. Events are held nationwide in schools, churches, city halls, and state capitols—bringing together people in quiet reflection and collective hope.

In closing, communities far and wide are preparing to gather in prayer, reflection, and fellowship on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Once more, to be a part of the Mayor Prayer Breakfast in Rutherford County, visit GreenhouseMin.org (or Click Here for a direct link).
