WATS is a progressive wine-tasting event featuring 85+ wines, culinary delights provided by area restaurants and caterers, and live music.

Very good cause! The proceeds of the 2013 Wine Around the Square Event will benefit Power of Pink, the Middle Tennessee Medical Center Foundation’s premier Rutherford County program for breast cancer detection and treatment. Proceeds will help fund “Our Mission in Motion” mobile mammography coach as it travels to Rutherford County, a portion of the nurse navigator’s salary, and will pay for local, indigent womens’ mammograms and breast cancer care.
In 2012, $46,855 was used for these patients’ mammograms and breast cancer care, helping 330 women. The Our Mission in Motion coach visited Rutherford County 11 times and performed 154 mammograms, 40% of which were charity care.
Sponsorship's available: Visit our brand new Web site at winearoundthesquare.org for sponsorship information.
History: The Power of Pink program was begun nine years ago to provide financial support for the MTMC and Saint Thomas Health Mission in Motion mobile mammography, mammograms for indigent women in Rutherford and the surrounding counties, and breast cancer education and information. Formerly held as a party in the home of an individual, last year the event had grow so much it was decided to transform the fundraiser into Wine Around the Square and open it to the community.
More than $120,000 was raised last year, in our very first year. Those funds will provide care and support for hundreds of women this year. The need is great, and more treatment and testing are needed. We want to grow WATS in order to provide more funding and more breast health care for more Rutherford County women.
