Murfreesboro Mayor COVID-19 Briefing Tonight (Tuesday) 6pm on WGNS

Mayor Shane McFarland will hold another COVID-19 briefing tonight (Tuesday, April 28) at 6 p.m. to explain the State and local "Reopening Guidelines." WGNS will carry it live on FM 100.5, 101.9, AM 1450 and streaming at WGNSRadio.com.

The scheduled briefing comes after Gov. Lee announced that his "Stay at Home" order will expire April 30 and provided guidelines through Tennessee Pledge, allowing a reopening. The mayor's briefing will provide details of the City's "Reopening Guidelines" following input from small businesses.

"I will continue to update the citizens of Murfreesboro on the health and economic impact of the coronavirus as we seek to reopen our economy," said Mayor Shane McFarland. "Many citizens and businesses still have questions about how we can safely reopen and operate under Governor Lee's Reopening Guidelines and our local guidelines as the Stay at Home order expires April 30."

Details of the "Reopening Guidelines" will be released immediately following the 6 p.m. televised briefing.

During the briefing, Mayor McFarland, under Governor Lee's guidance, the advice of health authorities and local businesses, will explain revised restrictions that allow some previously restricted businesses to resume commerce safely and help prepare for phased openings of other businesses.

"As I have stated repeatedly, this will not be a return to normal life," said Mayor Shane McFarland. "Some strict restrictions for businesses and citizens, must be adhered to if we are to open in a measured fashion and maintain safety. Everyone should continue to practice social distancing, wear masks in public and practice and good hygiene."
