Photo released March 7, 2022 - Smoke covering eastern Tennessee today is coming from fires south of the state. Much of the smoke originates from the Chipola Complex in Florida, where two large wildfires are burning in the panhandle. Hurricane Michael destroyed an estimated 72 million tons of trees in that area in 2018 that now provide vulnerable fuel conditions for wildfires.
