St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital Names 5 Board Members

Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital announced the addition of five members to its board of directors. Dr. Russ Galloway, Dr. Rick Rogers, John Sant Amour, Dr. Rhea Seddon and Mike Ussery began their terms of service on July 1, 2015. As board members they will work to support the objectives and vision of the hospital. All five appointees are residents of Murfreesboro.

Dr. Russ Galloway, board certified emergency physician, is the president of Middle Tennessee Emergency Physicians which has been staffing Saint Thomas Rutherford and Saint Thomas Midtown hospitals since 1989. He has been serving as medical director of Rutherford County EMS since 1994 and has served many roles on the medical staff of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Dr. Galloway received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He has served on many boards including the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, Dispensary of Hope and United Way of Rutherford County. He was awarded the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital Physician of the Year in 2009 and the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Physician Champion in 2013.

Dr. Rick Rogers, orthopedic surgeon, was one of the physicians who formed Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in 1996. He practiced orthopaedic surgery in Murfreesboro for 32 years before retiring in September 2014. Throughout his years of service he remained on Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital's medical staff.

Dr. Rogers received his medical degree from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He served on the board of directors for Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance for six years and four years as treasurer. He was an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons until retirement.

John Sant Amour, branch manager of Morgan Stanley's Murfreesboro office, has been in the financial services industry since 1989. He is also the past director and president for the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, and is currently a director for the Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Board as its chairman.

Mr. Sant Amour graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. He is passionate about Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and is excited to see the continued success of this ministry in the community.

Dr. Rhea Seddon is the former assistant chief medical officer of Vanderbilt Medical Group in Nashville and assistant professor of medical administration and education at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Prior to her time at Vanderbilt she spent 19 years with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and served on her first shuttle flight in 1985.

Dr. Seddon received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis where she completed four post-graduate years of residency in general surgery. She served as an emergency physician part-time during her residency and her years at NASA.

Mike Ussery is the chief operating officer for National HealthCare Corporation since 2007. He has been with NHC since 1980. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from University of Notre Dame and later received his MBA from Middle Tennessee State University.

Mr. Ussery has served on many boards including the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, American Red Cross - Heart of Tennessee Chapter, Leadership Rutherford, Hospice of Murfreesboro, Rutherford County Adult Activity Center, Murfreesboro Noon Rotary Club, Rutherford Guidance Center and the American Heart Association.
