Smyrna Police were initially investigating Williams for firing a shot in his apartment that went into the unit below. As a result of that investigation, Smyrna officers pursued Williams. The pursuit was later picked up by LaVergne Police and entered into Davidson County. Williams was forced off the roadway by LaVergne officers near the intersection of Smith Springs Road and Castlegate Drive. Williams then opened fire on one of the LaVergne officer's marked police vehicles, according to law enforcement. The police car was hit by multiple rounds. The officer escaped injury and returned fire.

Williams fled on foot, leaving behind his three children, ages 3, 2 and 9 months. They were unharmed.

Williams was later caught at a home on Alicia Lane. Nashville SWAT officers surrounded the residence and the suspect surrendered without incident.

The following charges will be heard in court:

• Reckless endangerment for discharge of a weapon
• Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
• Evading arrest and risking death or injury
• Reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon
• Aggravated child abuse or neglect
• Child abuse or neglect
• Driving with a suspended license

Again, Williams is expected to file a plea on march 18, 2020 before Chancellor Howard Wilson.
