(MURFREESBORO) 40-year old Malak Ishak, owner of MGM Tobacco and Beer Market, is in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. The store is located at 2415 Halls Hill Pike.
Ishak was the "on duty clerk" when a black male wearing a camo jacket, walked into the store at 1:35PM Monday afternoon. In fact, one customer was in their car when the gunman walked past.
There was no lengthy discussion between Ishak and the shooter, because in 1-minute and 42-seconds, surveillance video showed the criminal was back outside, leaving the store owner seriously wounded with multiple gunshot wounds. Then the shooter got in the owner's 2010 black Nissan Rogue and fled the scene.
Ishak was shot in the stomach, chest and arms. He underwent surgery Monday (2/10/2020) evening at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Public Information Officer Larry Flowers gave a description of the culprit: A black male, dressed in a camo jacket, wearing a hat, and a doo rag, is seen on surveillance video walking into the store. After the robbery/shooting, he comes out and leaves in the clerk's vehicle.
As released earlier, the robber-shooter fled in Ishak's 2010 black Nissan Rogue that was parked by the front door.
If you see this vehicle or can identify the robber, please contact Detective Richard Presley at (629) 201- 5615.
