The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) continues its relationship enhancement support to Veterans and their intimate partners through free workshops focused on improving communication.

The free one-day workshops, which will be offered in Nashville and Murfreesboro, are designed to strengthen communication skills. The workshops are appropriate for happy or distressed couples who have been in a relationship for at least 6 months.

"Every couple can learn something about communication to build a stronger relationship," said TVHS social worker and event organizer Landra Orr. "These workshops will give Veterans and their partners ideas for doing that, no matter how long they've been together."

Workshop topics will include recognizing strengths, managing and appreciating individual differences, handling emotional sensitivities from the past and managing stress as a team.

Workshops are scheduled once monthly through the rest of 2019 as well as in January, February, April and May 2020. Registration is open now and seating is limited. Sign up for a Murfreesboro workshop at http://bit.ly/CouplesWorkshopMurfreesboro and sign up for a Nashville workshop at http://bit.ly/CouplesWorkshopNashville.

These workshops are not appropriate for couples experiencing intimate partner violence. However, if you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner violence, TVHS can help. Call 1-800-228-4973 to get help today.
