The Rutherford County Property Assessor's office is helping local residents understand where flood zones in our community are actually located. Assessor Rob Mitchell told WGNS that a FEMA Flood Layer map is located on their website.

Mitchell said in an email to WGNS, "With the rains of Harvey having just passed us, you may notice more water in your creeks, streams, or rivers near your house."

To check what flood area FEMA says you are in, just go to the Rutherford County Assessor's site: http://rutherfordcountytn.gov/propertyassessor/. Navigate to the Property Data Search Page. Click Search for Real Property, enter your address information and hit search.

Once you have your information pulled up, click the pictures tab, and then click the layers box followed by the Flood Zones tab in the layers box.
